30 weeks

30 weeks & needing bigger scrubs!

HOW FAR ALONG?: 30 weeks! Wowzers!!! Only 10 to go! Eek! Bright side (besides the obvious): 8 more weeks of work! Wahoo! Actually 7 after Saturday :))))

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN?: I go to the doctor tomorrow, we'll see what Thanksgiving did to me. I did step on the scale at home and I had gained 2 pounds in a week and a half so we'll see if I kept it on ;) If so, about 17.5 pounds at this point.

MATERNITY CLOTHES: I finally caved and bought another pair of pants when we were home. I *needed* some skinny jeans because I can't imagine a winter without my Uggs ;) It's definitely time to get some bigger tops because smalls are no longer cutting it!

SLEEP?: When we were visiting family it was difficult because I didn't have my pillow nest that I have here and I was tossing every 30 minutes, now I seem to be back to sleeping well.

BEST MOMENT/S THIS WEEK?: Our week vacation continued in Iowa, Friday we had lunch with my grandma and then spent some time with my brother Chad & his family and then my brother Clint and his daughter Cariin. We also headed up to the 'ol Corner Bar that night with my friends Rachael & Christina - it was pretty lame and we were home by 12:30am ;) Saturday we showed our proposal show at the local theater for friends and family and Sunday my aunts threw a baby shower for me. We are so blessed with the generous people in our lives! Monday it was back to Burbank to relax for a few days before heading back to work Wednesday.

WORST MOMENT THIS WEEK?:  I had some major anxiety getting to the airport on Monday. We headed to Des Moines with plenty of time to spare but wanted to have lunch first. Well, it was only 10:30am so we killed some time in Target (darn!) and then went to lunch. Somehow time seemed to slip away and we were booking it to the airport. I think we got there at 12:20 and our flight was to leave at 1:12, I was so nervous that our luggage wouldn't get on the plane. The line at United was so long, but I budged in front of everyone (thanks to early check-in & being a Mileage Plus member) and we made it! Sorry to my Mom for the attitude I gave, I'm not proud of it!

MISS ANYTHING?:  Nothing at the moment.

MOVEMENT?: She's on the move again, back to the big kicks and I think I'm starting to get some elbows to the ribs, but I love feeling her move around in there - I'm sure I'll miss that!

FOOD CRAVINGS?:  No cravings. Although I never did get that Carmel Apple Cider I mentioned last week, we ran out of time. Boo!

LABOR SIGNS?: NO!

SYMPTOMS / MOODS?: The same as before with the constipation and nasal stuffiness, in addition to my left ear does this thing were it feels like it needs to be popped. I can hear my voice in that ear and it's really annoying! I try popping them and it does nothing, it comes and goes. And my gums are still bleeding with flossing. Depending on what side I sleep on my upper thigh/buttock gets a weird 'pain.' It doesn't really hurt, I just have to roll over, I'm not sure what that's about either.
My mood is excitement and disbelief! I can't believe how fast this is going and that she's going to be here, SOON! No more just Brett & Chayna. That will be such an adjustment since it's just been the two of us for almost 8 years. Crazy...

BELLY BUTTON IN or OUT?: In.

WEDDING RINGS OFF or ON?: On and man were they tight on the flight!

LOOKING FORWARD TO...? Next weekend we are headed to Temecula, CA (the Pechanga Casino) because Brett is booked there for the weekend. Last time we went we had a great time, it was so relaxing and the rooms were nice so I'm hoping not a lot has changed!

What's in a Name?

As soon as Brett & I learned we were pregnant, we started discussing names. We could not agree on any boy names, which is okay since we have a little princess cooking in there! It seemed like we immediately agreed on this little girl's name, the only problem is, how to spell it.

Obviously, my name hasn't always been the easiest for people to understand/comprehend/pronounce. I've been called so many variations of the name, some that don't make any sense and some that are pretty close. While I am proud of the name my parents chose for me, I don't want our little one to be constantly correcting people. Recently we realized that she's probably going to have to either way, so now it's just personal preference.

That being said, her name is:

Vada Belle Riley
or is it...
Veda Belle Riley

VAY-duh has different meanings, depending on how you spell it.
VADA (German) means "Famous Ruler"
VEDA (Indian) means "Sacred Knowledge"
We prefer the latter, due to the meaning, although it seems she's already 'ruling' our lives! We chose this name for a couple of reasons. (1) It's not super popular! We don't want her to be Veda R. her whole life, especially because Brett's already worried she'll be called Darth Vader! ;) (2) We both really liked the movie "My Girl" when growing up! Sometimes I think Brett thinks we will be giving birth to Anna Clumpsky ;) (3) We don't know anyone with this name, so it's appealing. It's not common but not crazy!

BELLE (Latin) means "Beauty"
Her middle name, Belle, was Brett's grandmother's middle name (Margaret Belle Riley).  It was actually his great-grandmother's middle name as well. We're not sure if there was any significance behind the name, but we like it and want to honor his Grandmother. Brett & Margaret were incredibly close and he misses her and their incredible conversations every day.  She really held a special place in his heart.

So there you have it ... sort of. We are still determining the spelling. It might come down to her birthday. It should NOT be this hard, but we're so indecisive!

29 weeks

I still have to get a photo this week.... oops!

HOW FAR ALONG?: 29 weeks

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN?: I haven't a clue, after yesterday, probably 45 pounds ;)

SLEEP?: I'm still sleeping pretty well, my trips to the bathroom seem to be more frequent!

BEST MOMENT/S THIS WEEK?: It's completely impossible for me to pick only one! I've taken a week and a half off of work to come home for Thanksgiving. Brett and I landed in Kansas City on Monday and spent a few days with his mom, visiting his Nana & Grandad and his brother. We had such a great time with wonderful conversation. His mom and I also went and got a massage - BONUS! Thanksgiving day we were up bright and early (well, actually Brett never made it to bed Wednesday night because he didn't have much time with this brother they were up all night talking) and drove to Des Moines, where my mom met us. We headed to Thanksgiving festivities with my mom's family. Another great day with tons of yummy food and great visits!  It's always nice to get out of LA for awhile!

WORST MOMENT THIS WEEK?:  Maybe the fact that it was 60* yesterday and today it's like 30*, windy and flurrying. Freakin' Iowa!

MISS ANYTHING?:  Nothing at the moment.

MOVEMENT?: She's moving but her movements seem to have changed. I don't know if she's switched positions or what, but I'm feeling kicks flutters and punches in places I don't usually feel them. They also don't feel as strong. It makes me nervous, I'm probably just paranoid but I have to have something to worry about. I think she had her first episode of hiccups this morning, too!

FOOD CRAVINGS?:  I really want to go to this place nearby and get a Carmel Apple Cider, but I'm sure that's just because I know its here!

LABOR SIGNS?: NO!

SYMPTOMS / MOODS?: Same symptoms as before. I think my mood is generally ok but I know I'm snappy occasionally - Sorry B!

BELLY BUTTON IN or OUT?: In.

WEDDING RINGS OFF or ON?: On.

LOOKING FORWARD TO...? We still have an action packed weekend ahead of us! Today we're going to visit with my Grandma and to see my brother and his family. Tomorrow we're showing our proposal at the local theater and Sunday a baby shower for our little lady. We'll get to see many friends and family that we haven't seen for awhile so I'm pretty excited :) This little one has already received so many gifts, many of them clothes. She will without a doubt be more sylish than her parents! We are so blessed!

28 Weeks! Hello Third Trimester!

HOW FAR ALONG?: 28 weeks // Third Trimester // 80ish days to go!

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN?: 15.5 pounds as of today

SLEEP?: I'm still trying to savor every minute before this little peanut turns our world upside down!

BEST MOMENT/S THIS WEEK?: I've been having a good time hanging out with the husband. I'm not so sure he's feeling the same way, I think pregnancy brain has officially set in. While I find it hilarious, I don't think he does so much. :) He really is the best, I have a long list of examples, but some might embarrass the man!
Oh, and we got a humidifier for our room this week because I'm tired of waking up crusty!

WORST MOMENT THIS WEEK?:  I really can't think of any!

MISS ANYTHING?:  Sleeping on my back or tummy! It's starting to require a little more effort to turn from side to side!

MOVEMENT?: The last couple days she's been moving like crazy, I wonder if she's even sleeping!

FOOD CRAVINGS?:  None, but I am certainly excited for Thanksgiving dinner! YUMMY!

LABOR SIGNS?:  NO!

SYMPTOMS / MOODS?: No new symptoms... my mood is just goofy. I can't explain it but I just laugh hysterically at a lot of things, which is fun ;)

BELLY BUTTON IN or OUT?:  In.

WEDDING RINGS OFF or ON?: On.

LOOKING FORWARD TO...? Monday we're heading back to the Midwest for a week! We'll get to spend a few days with Brett's mom and brother and then head up to Iowa for Thanksgiving, the showing of our proposal and a baby shower!! It'll be fun, busy and probably not too relaxing, but definitely worth it!

27 weeks

27 weeks

HOW FAR ALONG?: 27 weeks, last week in the second trimester! Oh my gosh!

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN?: I'm not sure

SLEEP?: Unchanged, with the exception of daylight savings. I didn't have the luxury of gaining an hour anywhere but work, so I had some catching up to do early this week.

BEST MOMENT/S THIS WEEK?: President Barack Obama was re-elected!! Also, Brett & I were celebrating our past year. He proposed to me one year ago 11/8 (The show is not going to air, so if you are in the Belmond area on 11/24 @ 1:30PM, it will be showing at the Lyric theater - space is limited!). We went to lunch at the Smoke House in Burbank and then thought about going to the Getty, but it was cloudy/rainy so we ended up going to a movie, which was fun :) Our year has been such a whirlwind, getting engaged, married and pregnant, oh and we moved!

WORST MOMENT THIS WEEK?:  Seriously - work. I worked over the weekend and it was so freakin' busy! My first night of three (which I don't even like to do three in a row anymore) was daylight savings. I was already exhausted going into it just thinking about being there for 13 hours... but then I got a crashing patient and ended up being there for 14+ hours, that is just too much running around for this preggo! My body wasn't used to daylight savings time the next day, so I was awake at 3. That night was also busy, I was in charge and trying to help to stabilize the same patient from the previous night. On night number three, I was in charge again, it was much better aside from the Code Blues and MAT teams that I responded to. It ended 14.5 hours later after a work meeting. TOO MUCH FOR THIS LADY! Then I had to get my voice heard, so Brett & I walked over to our polling place and I finally made it to bed at 11. I need to sit around for a couple of days now and get a massage. Whew!

MISS ANYTHING?:  I'm not really missing anything anymore, it would just be nice to have a glass of wine.

MOVEMENT?:  Yep, still moving around in there. She must still have a little room!

FOOD CRAVINGS?:  No but I've been eating nothing but crap for the last few days, mostly because I was at work running around and I really need to get groceries!

LABOR SIGNS?:  NO!

SYMPTOMS / MOODS?: Nothing new.

BELLY BUTTON IN or OUT?:  In.

WEDDING RINGS OFF or ON?: On.

LOOKING FORWARD TO...? Heading back to the Midwest for Thanksgiving! My aunts are throwing me a baby shower, too! (The baby shower is an open house style, Sunday 11/25 from 1:30-3:30 @ the Belmond City Hall, all are welcome!) And enjoying this beautiful weather - finally! No more 90s!!
